I loved it and thought it had one of the best car chases since Ronin.

My dad and I love the books, movie was decent. Not that Tom Cruise was bad in the movie, just don’t think he was a good casting choice. In the books, Reacher is like 6'6" and 250. But yeah the chase scene and the cinematography was great.

I really should read the books. I try not to get too bent out of shape if an actor doesn’t perfectly physically represent a character as long as they can at least act like them. Kind of like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Totally wrong body type but he definitely acts like him.

Fair enough. You need to read the books though. Good page turners.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good.

I almost hate that I love it though, because while Tom Cruise makes some consistently good movies, he’s a batshit insane motherfucker IRL.

I have an ongoing boycott of all things Tom Cruise, but I did read one of the books, Personal , a while back. Didn’t much care for it. Masturbatory seemed to be a good descriptor.

First movie, good.

Read a Reacher book (number 11, 12, or some such. He chases bad guys. Kills a lot of bad guys. Wins in end.) Also good.

I like Tom Cruise. Hey, I’m not going to hang out with him. He’s a dynamic actor. Don’t care if he’s a dynamic citizen.

Will see second Reacher movie.

I kind of wanted to see it because Herzog, but that was it.

He totally is but if you notice almost every character he plays has at least one scene where they go nuts so that’s what they pay him for.

I approve of anything that gives us Robert Duvall laughing while saying “suck it”.

I thought is was great, but Tom Cruise leaves me confused.

He PERFECTLY captured Reacher’s personality and behavior. And yet Reacher is supposed to be 6'-4" and 250lbs, not Cruise’s 5'-7" 145lbs.

The most important quality of Reacher is his size. Lee Child beats the reader over the head with it. How Reacher sizes people up, how people size him up, and how he uses his enormous size/weight in combat. It’s too vital a description to cast someone so (physically) wrong for the part.

Did you know Tom Cruise is now older than Wilford Brimley was when Wilford Brimley was in Cocoon? That’s crazy to me.

He fights badass, but his driving skills in that Chevelle are crap. Didn’t like the chase scene at all.....

That’s the whole point. Chase scenes should be sloppy. Everyone isn’t Senna.

I’ve read all the books. Jack Reacher is 230-250 lbs depending on the book, and he is 6'3" or 6'4", maybe 6'5", and they cast Tom motherfucking-shoes with an insert- Cruise for his role.

Everybody keeps saying this. I keep saying if America can be happy with a 6'2" 180 lb Hugh Jackman playing a 5' 3" 300 lb Wolverine then we can be happy with Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher. There are a couple things you need from an actor for a role. The need to have a certain amount of recognition to pull an audience to see a film they might otherwise not see. They need to be able to make you believe those lines and those actions. Anything else after that is just icing on the cake.

It doenst match up with the rest of the movie though. Jack Reacher, the character, is a master at a whole aray of things (fighting being one of them), yet he can’t drive for shit.

I loved that movie. It was hyped poorly, though, as an action movie. It was much more of a detective/mystery film than a pure action flick. Great action in it, though. And I’m definitely looking forward to the next one.
